The Rail Philatelist Thomas the Tank Engine

The
Rail Philatelist
Reverend W. Awdry created Thomas the Tank Engine in
a series of stories for his son Christopher in the 1940's. Thomas is based
on the London, Brighton & South Coast Railway 0-6-0E2 steam locomotive
with extended side tanks. The TV series "Shining Time Station" has made Thomas
a favorite with children all over the world.
On August 15, 1995 the Isle of Man, a part of Great
Britain, issued a set of six stamps for "Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends".
